My successful career in nails gave me the receipts to present to lenders and finance a few wants and needs.
And if you’re really thinking about a career in nails as an independent nail tech, I want to give you 5 good reasons to prioritize that decision for yourself today.
Let’s dive into the 5 reasons to become an independent nail tech… because there is definitely money to be made.
Imagine this, you can work in a creative field within three to 6 months as your own boss, and with hard work and dedication, work yourself up to at least the median household income (U.S. ~$70k). Let me say it again, without a boss and doing something fun and creative.
When you’re ready hit play.

My nails grow very long without even polish. I have to file them weekly with acrylic nail files or I'm filling forever. Is there a way to clip without the nail splitting?? Or a flat nail clipper to get a straight cut?
Yes, cut from side to side, not straight in the middle or that could cause breakage/splitting.
hey i’m trying to figure out how to Take off the charm GLUE off the nail but keep and maintain the nail ??? without pour tools
does your Saeshin file have a heavy handpiece?
It's the silver metal one. It doesn't feel heavy to me.
This is adorable 😍
Nice 👍👍👍
Can I please get the name and brand of the builder gel?
This is Nail Thoughts by Kokoist, in the color Taupe (10% off w/ affiliate code PPN10) paolaponcenails.com/kokoist
I don't think I've ever seen you use a colored builder gel! 😊
But those long(er) almonds on you.. easily my favorite shape on you. 💖 Absolutely gorgeous. ❤️🔥
Your hands are so pretty. Your nails always look good in any shape, color, opacity, high or low 'maintenance' / glam.. simple or busy. I enjoy seeing all of your styles.
What did you saturate the French cleaning brush with..? THANK YOU POALA! ✨️💛✨️
90% alcohol :)
Great to know. Thank you! ❤
I love doing matte with that shade of blue!
I usually apply mega stick base and platinum filler on all my clients doing a structured manicure. But with a 2n1 I can prep the nail and go right in???
Is an independent nail tech business still based as a salon? I’m trying to do it from home with lash services but they said I have to have a salon license for nails and lashes have to be set up in a different room
Is builder gel supposed to be thick and harder to work with?
Please check out my nail gel eBook for all the explanations… paolaponcenails.com/gels101
I noticed this vid is max 720p. Was this a mistake?
No, we upload at 720p, sometimes 1080p.
I am in school right now and while we are getting a lot of hands on learning, I wish there were more step by step instructions. It really is just getting my hours, learning diseases and disorders, sanitation and disinfection procedures, practicing for the state board test. Once I graduate though I’ll be free to focus on only gels!✨ Acrylic is nice and I somewhat got the hang of it…..but gels feel so much more….me? Like I can connect with them 100% more than with acrylic…does that make sense? I can paint with them just like on canvases…well on much smaller temporary canvases.😅 Anyway, yes I am signing up for your classes as soon as I start making monies!
Yes! Look at nail school like a checkbox, and get excited over the continuing education! Hope to have you soon… and totally get you on the “connection” with gel. Especially soft gel!
I, as a nail Instructor. I'm sad to hear that. I've taken a few courses from Paola and will continue. I've been a nail tech for over 21 years. If you were at my school and my student, you'd get some pretty good education on gel since that's all I do. Yes, I do acrylic as well. But only in school. Wish you the best and get extra education with Paola.
@@kathykov1 Yes Kathy! You are the nail educator we all think we're signing up for nail school to get. You're in Nevada, tell us again your school name?
@kathykov1 Aaw💖 Our instructor doesn't demo for us, and if she does, it's only once. Plus, a lot of what she has planned feels so unorganized. There is another instructor who demos anything we ask her about when our instructor isn't able to make it in class. So I would have been very excited to have a teacher like you✨️ I am considering that, maybe in the future, I might become an instructor just because there is so much I wish was being taught but isn't.

I love your content and am 100% on the structured soft gel train. If I'm ever able to get licensed that is my plan. I'm a little salty, though, because it truly isn't accessible for me. The only nail school in my area has a tuition of over $10,000 for the manicurist program and does not offer financial aid. My state allows apprenticeships, but there aren't any available (I contacted every salon in my area that offers nail services to try and find one). I would LOVE to be a nail tech but have no idea how on earth to make it happen.
Oh no! What state is this?
@@PaolaPonceNails Michigan, I live in a really rural area.
Good info on here ! 👍🏼
Glad it was helpful!
Wowiee!! Thank you SO much!! I have been struggling with this technique as all the tutorial short vids make it so easy when it really is not being explained. I already have my nails on and was about to try again today, so this vid came to me quite on time!!!! Thanxx so much for this, I am bouta go play w/my cateye designs now!!!!
Glad it helped!
No matter what I do my nails keep lifting.
What speed is ok for removing gel with a fine ceramic bit?
Up to max, and no less than 20k. Training and experience to work at this speed though.
If you use gel polish in a bottle do you recommend hand new bottle brushe or adding gel polish to a pallet possibly?
I use to do my nails and had to stop because of an allergic reaction and I know it’s the gel, my hands become itchy and swollen and I have been doing my nails for years 😢
😮thank you sooooooooo much!!! I was super struggling with this. I got the Kokoist at the nail show and couldn’t for the life of me get it!! But putting it on the sponge was the TICKET!! ❤
A little off-topic, but if you also needed help with understanding any nail gel (as that's my specialty), I created this free-guide to help you with that paolaponcenails.com/gels101/
Hey hey! If you need help with understanding any nail gel (as that's my specialty), I created this free-guide to help you with that paolaponcenails.com/gels101/
Great video. New sub
I got the melody Susie nail lamp and it even said it had good wattage and my gel nail glue from beetles wasn’t curing. I used one builder gel and cured like a few times to be safe, it was sticky and then I used a no wipe top coat cured a few times and it was still sticky so I think the builder gel wasn’t curing for some reason even though I only did a thin layer. Also it would happen with just the regular top coat not curing all the way I’d have to cure like 4 or 5 times even though it was non sticky /no wipe top layer top coat.. I seen other using the beetles gels without a problem and I thought melody Susie was a better brand than those other ones on Amazon that are cheaper. It made me so mad so I ended up filing them all off in a rush and made the mistake of using a sanding but to file off faster and I ruined mh nails. I have already really thing layers (i can easily peel my nails if I wanted to), and it damaged my nails for more than like 6 months to grow back. Since then I was so discouraged i returned my mail drill but I still have that lamp ugh
Where did you get your nail silk patch. What brand did you use...?
I got a lamp from Modelones. Can I cure it for extra long if I'm afraid it isn't a reliable enough lamp?
This was a great video thank you so much
What gold do you use?! Do you have a link? It's beautiful.
Awsome
How can one enroll
Here's the link to the Fast Rebalance mini course: paolaponcenails.com/rebalance
Genius.
You are absolutely right about cuticle skin removal with e-file. I did that and i got bad itchy cuticles after my nails were done. When alcohol and other products touched that part it turned red and itchy.😢
Whenever I file my nails the shreds the nails and they are bumpy is my filer too thick?
Thank you ! I have this problem too.. 😢
Thank the for the informative video
Do you need to clean the brush in between applications and if so how? Thank you xx
Be careful stretching your skin so hard while cleansing. The skin around the eyes is the most delicate so tugging at it will create bags under the eyes and wrinkles. Use your ring finger (the weakest finger) to gently dab around the eyes instead. ❤
Thank you for that 💐
Yes, I highly suggest a cleansing oil to reduce tug (or BioDerma Micellar Water on a cotton round) before either a gentle or treatment face wash. Oil cleansers are amazing, but not for everyone. 🥰 Everything I learn, I learn from Kelly Driscoll & Dr Shereen Idress on UA-cam!
the problem I have is that of course, using safe products sounds great, but safe companies don't sell to DIY and a license is sickly expensive, like, last time I checked it was 7300 dollar (like 76 890 kr) and it was online anyways... so like, what?
Totally get it. Most nail companies also don’t require a license to purchase. Many say “For Professional Use Only”, but if they really wanted to enforce that, then they would require a verified user login… but they don’t 🤷🏻♀️ In my opinion nail brands should read “for trained used only”. A nail license does not make it safe to use their products. DIYing, trial and erroring w/ random UA-cam videos is risky also. Certifying in their products does. Having a nail expert’s guidance does also. Therefore, I highly recommend a brand certification or you can also join my Master Gel Nails Course which teaches you about the gel products I use and how to identify safe gel nail products before learning application. The brands I use do not require you to be pro-verified before using. paolaponcenails.com/mgn/ Otherwise, I do agree with many experts’ opinions, lacquer is the safer option. I add… press-ons are. Hope this helps 💐
Thanks for such a great video! I certainly learned some new tips from you today!
Hi love your videos! I was wondering what desk you have?
Had to push that subscribe before I forgot
This was so helpful … I’m so glad I found you in Pinterest ..,
I wish I could switch, but these brands aren’t available in Denmark 😭 Can you recommend any other brands, please?
See if you can try Staleks. They have many options of disposable nail files and buffers. We use them I my salon, and really like. And the brand is worldwide.
I like Gelish. It’s available in a lot of countries. Id recommend getting the gelish lamp if you decide to get their products.
@@nailionaire I mean the gel products, sorry about the confusion. I love Staleks, and can fortunately buy many of their products 🙌🏻
